Academy of Learning Career College (AOLCC) is expanding!

We are seeking Employment Specialist for our Hamilton and Brampton East campus. The Employment Specialist is responsible for carrying out appropriate research on both internal and external issues relevant to Career Services Department, alumni relations, employer outreach, job placement and labour market trends. Develop Academy of Learning Prospective Graduates into suitable employment (“Best”) candidates for job opportunities in their field of study through group and 1:1 events/coaching on all aspects of job-search and job maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Career Development

Participate in identifying both internal and external needs related to graduates’ and students’ employment, resulting in the development and implementation of marketing plans and strategies for the services and programs offered by Career Services Department

Develop employment opportunities for graduates through cold calling, direct mailings and building relationships with employers

Recruit employers to participate in variety of career recruitment programs and activities such as job fairs, internships, job shadowing, mentoring, guest speakers and volunteer programs

Actively develop relationships and liaise with employers, social agencies, College faculty, students and graduates to identify career education related need and responds through the development and delivery of appropriate programming and services

Actively participate in College-wide projects involving the development of career related resource/course materials

Coordinates career conferences/job fairs relative to identified needs; recruits employers to participate in a variety of career recruitment programs and activities such as job fairs

Provide career development advisement and resources to students and recent graduates, including: assisting students in identifying strengths and barriers to employment, develop job readiness skills, understanding of job search strategies/processes and development of career management skills for a lifetime; advise on skills identification, resume preparation, cover letters, job search strategies, and interview techniques

Design, develop and deliver in-depth seminars/ workshops/ training sessions and written and electronic resources on all aspects of career identification, career development and career management

Maintain the student career resource center, as well as provide assistance to students in the use of the latest technology to access relevant career information

Research labour sectors and industry employment trends, on an ongoing basis; advise program areas and their students of job search strategies that speak to these trends

Obtain feedback from employers for skill needs, software utilization and job trends

Develop and maintain placement tracking system for alumni

Goal of 75% graduate employment rate

Practicum Coordinator

Promote the Programs to prospective organizations, firms
Helps maintain a contact list of available companies
Prepare students for their field placement by running a workshop (practicum expectation)
Search alternatives to aid in obtaining Canadian experience

Administrative Assistant

Assist in providing data for KPI Report for MTCU
Enforce all Academy of Learning College policies ethically, consistently and immediately

Skills and Qualifications

Post-Secondary education is psychology, business, career development or any other relevant field
Minimum two (2) years of experience in recruitment and or business development
Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
Knowledge of employment search techniques, career management competencies, training needs analysis, and one-to-one counseling techniques
Labor market trends and information
Computer literacy in MS Office, Internet and email
Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
